Solve Learning Loss Project
Welcome, dear Filipino learners!
We will check how much you have learned in school. Likewise, help you with certain skills and competencies that you still need help with. In this portal, you’d be doing the following things:
1. take a self-assessment on three subject areas - English, Math and Science for the level you are in and then;
2. check on options we recommend for you and/or your parents to take in order to catch up.

About the Project
The Solve Learning Loss Project is a multifaceted public service project in education of Thames International and University of San Carlos conceptualized in response to the prevalent and most urgent occurrence of learning loss across the country due to the Covid 19 Pandemic of 2020. This is assessment-based and curriculum-based and involves delivery of instruction in various modalities.
It has three components:
- The Philippine Assessment for Learning Loss Solutions (PALLS)
- The Catch-Up Program and,
- The Tutor Training Program.

The Learning Loss Project’s main movers are Thames International and University of San Carlos. The project’s partners and sponsors are as follows:
Introduction to PALLS
The Philippine Assessment for Learning Loss Solutions or PALLS is an online academic assessment tool crafted by the University of San Carlos to measure the extent of learning loss in the country brought about by school closures due to the 2020 Covid 19 pandemic.
The tool covers assessment in the following areas:
- English,
- Mathematics and
- Science
and spans Grades 1-12.
Each test has been based on the Most Essential Learning Competencies or MELCs as drawn from the Curriculum Guides of May 2016, the last iteration before 2020. Each test has 25 items and designed to be taken within 25 minutes.
Parent's Consent
As parent, I am giving my consent for my child’s participation in the Philippine Assessment for Learning Solutions or PALS. As my child submits himself or herself for self-assessment, I am aware that his or her anonymized results will be analyzed, and interpreted along with the total population of test takers of the project in pursuit of its objective to have an initial measure of the extent of learning loss in the country.
The said study will in no way identify him or her nor put his or her participation in a bad light but be rather constructive. I give consent to having administrators of the project full knowledge of his or her test results as I trust that they are doing so in light of helping him or her with competencies that he or she might need to catch up with and to furnish him/her and myself with positive options to take.
